Ingredients

1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons freshly grated orange rind
1 cup water

Preparation

  1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar, rind and 1 cup water, bring water to a boil, stirring until the sugar is dissolved, and cook the syrup over moderate heat for 10 minutes. Let the syrup cool and strain it through a fine sieve into a jar, pressing hard on the rind. The syrup keeps indefinitely, chilled, in a sealed jar.
