Add thin lemon slices while cooking cooked prunes.

Cover them with boiling water and put them in the refrigerator overnight. This doesn’t cook them; it just plumps them up nicely. You can do this quickly in a microwave oven. Cover a layer of prunes with water, add a squeeze of lemon juice if you wish, and cook on high for 5 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes before either eating or refrigerating in the liquid.
