Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds tomatoes, cut into 2" pieces
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, cut into 1/2" pieces
Kosher salt, black pepper

Preparation

  1. Bring tomatoes and butter to a simmer in a large skillet over medium heat. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until tomatoes are softened, 35-40 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
