My colleague, Emily Johnson, has a thing for mini kitchen gear. She's argued the case for small mugs and mini cutting boards. Recently, it's delicate, vintage-looking glasses. I've been resistant: I'm six feet tall and usually prefer a water vessel so large I could more or less fit my head inside it—something that holds 32 ounces sings to me. But when it comes to wine or cocktails, I'm all for a lovely little Bormioli Rocco bodega glass or a teeny, colorful glass goblet.
As I've started seeing more vintage glasses (and vintage-feeling glasses) online, I've started to come around to their charms. They brighten up another meal at the kitchen island, and maybe, since little glasses means frequent trips from the desk to the kitchen faucet, it'll mean I can make up my 11,000 daily steps mostly inside. One other perk: a little added festivity at Zoom cocktail hour.
I'm keeping my Nalgene, but I've been filling my virtual cart with Emily's favorite small tumblers, plus these other darling little ribbed, bubbled, and checked glasses.
One note: A lot of these are one of a kind, so you may need act swiftly (or check out a seller's other wares) if you have your heart set on a certain style. But I promise I won't check out before you do.
