Champagne sales often pop up at this time of year—wine sellers know that many folks only pop a bottle of bubbly on special occasions like New Year's Eve. But the truth is that really great Champagne can make any occasion into a special occasion—especially if the wine is really delicious. That's my philosophy, at least, and it's probably why I found myself opening the last bottle of Champagne we had on hand during Thanksgiving last night, and realizing that I'd better nab some more before the December holidays arrive.
I planned to avoid the Black Friday madness, but I woke up this morning to a Champagne sale I didn't expect—a few of my very favorite bottles from grape growers who make their on wine are seriously discounted at Parcelle today. My guess is that these wines will sell out fast; these small producers don't bottle all that much every year. So if you're looking for a great Champagne to open at holiday gatherings—including something for New Year's Eve—I'd suggest nabbing a few of these right away. I'm partial to any bottle from Bérêche & Fils, but these discounts on a blanc de blancs—that is, 100% Chardonnay—from Pierre Péters, and this single-vineyard, 2017 vintage bottling from Chartogne-Taillet are rarely seen.
Good news for New Yorkers who want to stock up—you get free delivery in Manhattan and Brooklyn if you spend $300.
